- Store only ciphertext we cannot decrypt — your content, file names, and keys stay yours.
- Move your data over TLS, on top of end-to-end encryption.
- Let you export or delete your vaults at any time.
- Give you reasonable notice before any material change to these terms.
- Keep your recovery code safe — if you lose it and every device, your data is unrecoverable.
- Use Manifa lawfully, and don't sync content you have no right to store.
- Don't abuse the service: no reverse-engineering our systems, no overwhelming the infrastructure.
- Keep your account credentials and enrolled devices under your control.

Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Manifa ("we", "us") governing your use of the Manifa service, CLI, and website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you accept these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
The Service
Manifa synchronizes your folders and environment files across your devices using end-to-end encryption. Encryption and decryption happen on your devices. We broker metadata and store encrypted blobs; we never receive your plaintext, file or directory names, or key material.
Your account and keys
You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials, your enrolled devices, and your recovery code. Because the Service is zero-knowledge, we hold no key that can decrypt your data or restore access on your behalf. If you lose all enrolled devices and your recovery code, your data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. This is a deliberate property of the Service, not a defect.
Treat the recovery code shown at signup like the only key to a safe — because that's what it is.
Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to store or distribute content you have no legal right to, to violate any law, or to infringe others' rights. You may not attempt to breach, probe, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure outside an authorized security assessment, interfere with other users, or circumvent plan limits.
Plans, billing, and cancellation
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis until cancelled. You can cancel anytime; access continues until the end of the paid period. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change pricing with reasonable advance notice; changes take effect on your next billing cycle.
Your content
You own your content. You grant us only the limited rights needed to operate the Service — to store and transmit the encrypted blobs and metadata you upload, so we can sync them to your devices. We claim no other rights, and we cannot read your content. You are responsible for the legality of what you store.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may add, change, or remove features, and may perform maintenance that briefly affects sync. We'll avoid breaking changes to your data and give notice of significant changes where practical.
Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups; the Service is a sync tool, not a sole backup of record.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MANIFA WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA ARISING FROM LOST KEYS OR RECOVERY CODES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms or to comply with law. On termination, your encrypted data is deleted from our systems within a reasonable period, except where retention is legally required.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. If we make material changes we'll give reasonable notice through the Service or by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
